The daughter of Count Louis de Thiry, and mother of Shasa Courtney and Manfred de la Rey. Centaine is beautiful and young, searching for love and fortune. She first marries Captain Michael Courtney, who tragically dies on their wedding day when she is already carrying his child. While on a hospital ship at sea, an attack leaves her stranded on the Skeleton Coast. It is there she meets the San Bushmen, who rescue her and travel with her across the Kalahari desert. Centaine has a brief, passionate affair with Lothar de la Rey, but it turns to loathing when Lothar murders the San Bushmen who had rescued her. Though she finds herself pregnant and gives birth to Lothar’s son, Centaine rejects the child. She then goes on to found the H’Ani mines, becoming the co – director of Courtney Enterprises. Later she marries her lover, Blaine Malcomess.
